Jongsun Park, Ph.D.

Jongsun Park have received his doctoral degree at Basel University with Dr. Brain A. Hemmings, before his postdoctoral training at Friedrich Miescher Institute, Switzerland. Jongsun joined the faculty of College of Medicine at Chungnam National University, Daejeon, South Korea in 2004 to investigate the roles of PI3K/PKB signaling in the energy metabolism and oncogenic pathways using mouse models. Since then his interest has been focused on the biological role of new member protein (PHF20, CTMP, LETM1) in PI3K/PKB signaling. After his sabbatical periods in the lab of Prof. George Thomas at Metabolic Diseases Institute, University of Cincinnati, he linked the concept of metabolic change in cancer cells to his work, especially mitochondria-mediated energy metabolism. Now, it became obvious that cancer is not a treatable disease, but a disease to live with.
